Jorjet Harper

Harper is a writer, editor, musician, artist and more. She has been part of Chicago's lesbian community since the 1970s.

She was entertainment editor for Outlines newspaper, and continues to write for the gay media today, for Windy City Times. She also wrote for Blazing Star and GayLife in the early 1980 as well as being a staff writer for 10 years with HOT WIRE: The Journal of Women's Music and Culture. Her syndicated Lesbomania columns have been published in book form, along with the sequel Tales From the Dyke Side.

Jorjet has performed for many years as a singer/songwriter at places around Chicago, including His 'N Hers and Mountain Moving Coffeehouse. She is a writer for, and co senior editor of, the 2008 book Out and Proud in Chicago.

Out and Proud in Chicago: An Overview of the City's Gay Community, the book is edited by Tracy Baim and features the contributions of more than 20 prominent historians and journalists. It is published by Surrey Books, an Agate imprint, and is hard cover, 224 pages, 4-color, with nearly 400 photos.
