Chicago, IL -- Known for creating acclaimed original programs that explore Chicago's character, from its architecture to its immigrant groups, WTTW11 is currently in production on a new documentary focusing on the history of Chicago's Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender community. Actress and Chicago native Jane Lynch will host the special Out & Proud in Chicago, debuting on Tuesday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Out & Proud in Chicago profiles the famous and the unsung, those who chose paths of activism and those who chose to live everyday lives with extraordinary dignity.

"I'm pleased to be involved in this production that shares the story of our vast and diverse community," said Lynch. "This is an important project that I hope all of Chicago will watch to discover more about themselves and their neighbors. WTTW is known for its balanced storytelling, intensive research and high production values, along with a clear dedication to the communities it serves. All of those qualities are reflected in this work."

Writer, actress and comedienne Jane Lynch is a Chicago-area native whose extensive theater background involves touring with The Second City and as well as writing and starring in the award-winning play Oh Sister, My Sister. She has worked on a variety of television and feature film projects, including major roles in Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, The 40 Year Old Virgin, The Fugitive, and the upcoming Julie & Julia. Recent television credits include Lovespring, Desperate Housewives and Weeds. She has recurring roles on Boston Legal, Two and a Half Men, Criminal Minds, and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

"This a very rich history, and we've spanned from the Civil War until today. We're delighted that Jane is working with us to weave it all together through her narration," says co-producer Daniel Andries.

"Our goal is to create a documentary that is enlightening and moving," continues co-producer Alexandra Silets. "We were delighted to work with Jane, and she adds the perfect touch to the show."

The June debut of Out & Proud in Chicago marks the beginning of a multi-platform initiative for WTTW11 and its sister stations WTTWDigital, the 24-hour Spanish language public television station V-me, and Create. The Out & Proud effort itself represents a new and long-term commitment to producing and presenting original content of interest to and designed for both the LGBT community and all of WTTW's viewing audience.
