Zipter is an award-winning author and columnist. She is the author of the critically acclaimed poetry collections Like Some Bookie God and The Patience of Metal, the nonfiction books Ransacking the Closet and Diamonds Are a Dyke’s Best Friend, and, formerly, the nationally syndicated column “Inside Out” (which appeared for many years in Outlines and Windy City Times). Her poems, essays and features have appeared in numerous periodicals and anthologies. Several short stories have also appeared in print. She is also a massage therapist and one of the cofounders of HOT WIRE: The Journal of Women's Music and Culture.
