Spangler is a theater writer, performer and singer who has been in numerous LGBT productions. She has also volunteered for many LGBT and AIDS groups, including LCCP, Howard Brown, Horizons/Center on Halsted, Equality Illinois, Sissy Butch Brothers, Mountain Moving Coffeehouse, POW WOW, PFLAG, V Day, AIDS Foundation, HRC, Lambda Legal and the ACLU.
